Postby Grizzlies Lax 0710 » Wed Mar 08, 2006 6:09 pm

I gota go w/ Kurt Vierra of Cal High. He stepped up and took on a team with little talent and molded us into real lacrosse players. With coach V, Cal won't be the doormatt of the EBAL anymore, Way to Go Coach V!

not to take away from coach worstell or anything, lacrosse was already on the west coast, its not like he revolutionized lacrosse in california. and as far as srv being a powerhouse, it takes year to establish a solid team. srv isnt very consistent this year, nor have they really been ever, and have been a pretty solid team in the past, sometimes, but this year they arent cutting it. they dont have team balance or chemistry, they have never beaten rivals mv, they should have won many games this year they won last year, such as SI, and us. we lost so many good players last year and we still have everything together, and srv lost a defender i heard, and they play as if they lost there whole team and had to bring in a bunch of new ones, somethings not right there, i dont mean to go off on srv but the coach is definatley not as good as he gets credit for, and srv is just overrated in general

hard to tell about SI, they have definatley been solid this year, but the loss to mv came to me as a shock, probably not because of the coaching, but maybe because of an off day for the players

Just wanted to remind people, that Worstell really did help Norcal lacrosse blow up. He came and along with guys like George Periera helped start up the scorpions club, and i'm quite sure they had something to do with the high school push for lacrosse to be a CIF sport. No they weren't the first people out here, but the amount of work and dedication that Worstell has put into the lacrosse scene as a coach (let's not forget his camp) has really been a catalyst for the growth of lacrosse in the bay area. And having played under him, yes, he is a very good coach, with an incredible understanding of the game.

Coach Angilly, of SI, is one of the best coaches I have ever had the pleasure of being coached by. He took the reins from Coach Giarrusso and has kept up a winning tradition at SI and has booked games with top competition from NY, a huge step for California lacrosse. Assistant Coach Packard is one of the most knowledgable and inspiring coaches out there. Players want to win for coaches like these, ones that both inspire their players and also care a lot about their development into adults.

DLSLAX...You might consider if publicly criticizing a Coach that many see as a lax icon is really a good way to win future AA votes, Invitations to USA West etc....especially in this Forum.... You will earn far more Brownie Points by posting what a wonderful Coach DLS has...just a thought....

As for DLS last year...I could be totally wrong but it was my impression that the offense was pretty much one dimensional. Tyler Hester being the only serious scoring threat. And DLS lost players but they also had players waiting to come on Board and because of injuries last year many players like yourself had a lot of experience under real game conditions in big games.

maybe you havent heard yet but coach worstell was an AA at TWO DIFFERENT POSITIONS, and i think the Long Island Hall of Fame would have to disagree with you on those thoughts of him.
by the way i have no connection to SRV, and they lost about 11 seniors including pile who i think was thier leading scorer, AND i hope you dont get any fellings the DLS should be considered a POWERHOUSE this isnt football ( the only one in NORCAL would be the wildcats)
